

Today Mongolia is a member to 23 International agreements and ratifying the Maritime law of Mongolia, as well as the Ship registration rule, the
State Ikh Khural and the Parliament of Моngolia has formed the maritime sector’s legal environment successfully, which allows for engagement
in maritime business.
By ratifying the International Maritime Organization’s Convention, Mongolia became a member state of IMO and the National Maritime
Administration was established as the ruling authority responsible for the implementation of International agreements. The Mongolia Maritime
Administration functions under the Ministry of Roads and Transportation, whose main duty is to implement State policy for the maritime sector in
compliance with international and domestic statutes.
Mongolia’s accession to “Barcelona Declaration Recognizing the Right to a Flag of States Having no Sea Coast” (1921), and UN convention on
“Transit Trade of Landlocked Countries” (1965) by the People’s Ikh Khural decree in 1976, as well as ratification of Convention on the High Seas
(1958), and United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (1982) by the State Ikh Khural became basic legal fundamentals of the
development of maritime activities in Mongolia.
Mongolia Maritime Administration aspires to develop a maritime sector, in compliance with the international standard level, which will support economic and social development of the country.
Our mission is to transport mining products of the country by national vessels manned by national crews.
